The leaves from the trees
come tumbling down
and settle softly
on the icy ground.
The rain sweeps gently
from the sky
and the earth in winter
does dormant lie.
The birds are quieter
somehow they know
soon will come
the soft white snow.
I will watch in wonder
all these things to see
and I will thank God for his treasure
this beauty just for me.
